JOB DESCRIPTION: This position coordinates and supervises office staff and operations for functions that include charge capture, coding, and edit/denial management. The position provides recommendations to optimize resources and aligning them with best-in-class performance metrics in specific categories of revenue cycle (productivity, compliance, accuracy, effectiveness, timeliness, and efficiency). The role is responsible meeting and exceeding operational work flow, productivity and results standards related to the above functions; coordinates and aligns the resources deployed to revenue cycle functions across the section(s) in efforts to build consistency of work flow and optimization of resources. The position also organizes, manages, and monitors the performance productivity of revenue cycle.
Management/Supervision: The role is responsible meeting and exceeding operational work flow, productivity and results standards related to the above functions; coordinates and aligns the resources deployed to revenue cycle functions across the section(s) in efforts to build consistency of work flow and optimization of resources. The position also organizes, manages, and monitors the performance productivity of revenue cycle. Supervises staff, providing work assignments, performance feedback
and corrective action as necessary. Hires and trains new employees.
Professional Development: Works with manager to formulate a plan for professional development. Attends educational in-services as appropriate.
Reporting/Data Management: Supervises daily revenue cycle operations in assigned section and monitors revenue cycle metrics for area of responsibility. Provides data and reports as required by management. Works with physicians to ensure consistent coding and documentation practices are adhered to.
Staff Resource: Trains staff as appropriate on revenue cycle activities, coding, billing and reimbursement practices. Acts as a resource to section staff on matters pertaining to revenue cycle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred. 4 years experience with revenue cycle functions, preferably in physician billing, coding, and/or medical management; requires coding certificate through nationally recognized organization (AAPC, AHIMA, etc.) required: CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC-H; Advanced Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, billing regulations, Medicare & NCCI guidelines, insurance coverage limitations and managed care protocols; IDX/GE Centricity experience preferred.
Successful completion of the AAPC ICD-10 Proficiency Assessment. The Emory ICD-10 Exam will need to be completed after hire and additional training. This component should be completed within the first ninety (90) days of employment. Non-compliance will be grounds for voluntary separation from Emory Clinic.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 25 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
