Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules. Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator. May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation. Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases. Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations. Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents. Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.
Additional Job Details:
Performs a variety of routine and specialized research lab procedures for actively enrolling VTEU and industry clinical trials
Support team lead with assay preparation
Isolates and counts Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) (may require training for certification if not already certified)
Records processes and data per lab standard operating procedures (SOPs) and individual study MOPs
Maintains instruments and records to validate research data.
Meets with study monitors to review lab qualifications and review of stored specimens
Prepares samples for storage and shipping.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Keen interest or experience in research. 1-2 years lab and research experience. Prior history of working within a team to meet objectives. Willingness to be flexible and to obtain all necessary credentials. Expected to follow protocol specific lab SOP’s. Experience working with assays is preferential but not essential.
