Emory University Research Fellow/Trainee- Cardiology in atlanta, Georgia
The Lyle Lab studies peripheral artery disease (PAD) and is focused on the intersection of diabetes and PAD and why PAD patients with diabetes are 5-10 times more likely to need a major limb amputation. We are currently identifying physiologic factors that promote new vessel formation and vessel remodeling to increase blood flow and restore ischemic limb function, thus preventing the need for amputation. We are seeking qualified applicants to work on a project investigating the roles of 3 protein isoforms in the collateral blood vessel formation process using in vivo and ex vivo systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform physiological experiments in mice using aseptic technique
Handle animals and manage of mouse colonies
Data acquisition and analysis and presentation of findings at weekly lab meetings is required
Other Skills and Abilities:
Develop new ideas for current and future research
Write a manuscript draft and edit the content
Knowledge of the principles and techniques being utilized
May teach techniques to others and train and supervise research staff

The candidate should have a recent Ph.D. with a strong interest in doing in vivo research. Previous animal experience is preferred, but not required. Competitive candidates will also have experience with immunocytochemistry and/or immunofluorescence staining, RNA extraction and qRT-PCR, western blot analysis, and animal models. The candidate will conduct independent research and collaborate with other members in the group. Additional duties, responsibilities and skills are listed below.
