JOB DESCRIPTION: Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career. The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc. Designs and evaluates experiments. Develops new ideas that promote current research. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for operation of specific equipment. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
The Emory University Department of Biomedical Informatics is recruiting for a post doctorate in the area of computer vision, image processing, machine learning, and signal processing. The Department of Biomedical Informatics is a highly dynamic and multidisciplinary environment that has strengths in imaging informatics, bioinformatics, machine learning, signal processing, mHealth and clinical informatics.
Your role will be to conduct good quality research in the aforementioned area, with special focus on pathology microscopy image analysis.

Interested applicants should submit current CV-Candidates are required to have good background in at least one of the following areas: Mathematics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Biostatistics, or Biomedical Engineering.
Strong motivation for image analysis related research and Strong sense of responsibility to complete research in a timely manner.
Strong programming skills in Matlab, and C++ is a must; some experience with R/SAS is preferred; experience with OpenGL, OpenCV, and OpenSlide is a strong plus; some experience with High Performance Computing and Database would be even better.
Candidates for post doctorate positions are expected to work proactively, participate in research discussions, publish scholarly research papers, and disseminate research results. Candidates will be given detailed instructions and help during the complete course of research work.-70607BR
