JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for managing complex research projects. Using an advanced knowledge of research methodology and techniques, assists in the planning and development of survey instruments, guidelines and procedures to collect required data. Coordinates various aspects of the study. Drafts and may edit text for studies. Analyzes data, identifies data discrepancies and researches and identifies causes. May perform statistical analysis of numerical data. Actively contributes to the development of research protocols. Determines how research methodologies or tools must be modified. Ensures that study data and systems are maintained and accurately documented. Analyzes data and develops reports to assess or monitor study performance and treatment results. Coordinates and conducts special meetings and presentations. Coordinates computer support for ancillary studies conducted at off-site locations. Collaborates on reports and papers. Assists in the preparation of tables and graphs for publication and presentation. May design and develop databases related to specific programs at the request of supervisor and/or Principal Investigator. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Sociology, and Psychology or related discipline and two years of professional level research experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Additional Details

We are seeking a candidate with advanced knowledge of research methodology and techniques to manage a complex Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded hypothesis generating study of four countries that have shown exemplary improvements in vaccine coverage and equity. Works in close collaboration with researchers in disciplines ranging from public health, business, political science, systems engineering and sociology.

Conducts both qualitative and quantitative research. Ensures compliance to ethical review board approvals. Oversees relationships with in-country collaborators and field staff. Collaborates on writing reports and papers.

Under the supervision of the PIs, the Manager, Research Projects will:

  • Ensure compliance of study team to protocols and modify protocols as needed

  • Develop data collection tools and establish and manage databases

  • Liaise with field staff to ensure proper documentation and recording of study data

  • Ensure compliance with relevant ethical review board approvals and update protocols and approvals as required

  • Conduct formative research

  • Develop work plans, detailed implementation plans and monitoring of project activities

  • Liaise with government agencies, collaborators and community stakeholders intarget countries

  • Support cleaning and analysis of data using statistical applications (SPSS, STATA, Epi-Info)

  • Analyze qualitative data

  • Assist in identifying, documenting, disseminating best practices in the project;

  • Draft peer-reviewed manuscripts.

We are looking to build a multi-disciplinary team and experience with any of the following, business, health system delivery, systems science, implementation science is a plus. Experience with vaccines is useful, but not essential.

Start date is August 15 th , 2018 and is a 22 month position. Frequent travel to and extended stays in three-four of target countries (final selection pending), including Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, India, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Lao PDR and/or Nepal. French fluency or fluency in native languages spoken in these countries a strong plus. International experience a strong plus, especially in the listed countries.

  • French fluency a strong plus; fluency of native language spoken in target countries a strong plus.

  • Ability to travel frequently and/or stay for extended periods in target countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
