Emory University High Performance Computing Manager - Information Technology in atlanta, Georgia
Hands on position to manage the RSPH research and high-performance computing environments and manage the support team providing these services. The role will support and evolve the resources needed with both technology and support staff to meet the needs of the RSPH research community with high performance and complex computing demands. This role, and the services team managed by this role, will have a highly interactive responsibility to help advise, teach, and formulate computing solutions for the RSPH researcher.
This position requires the ability to solve new technical and computational challenges to support research at the Rollins School of Public Health. This involves supporting an on-premise high-performance computing infrastructure that includes cluster systems down to high end desktop systems though to a cloud infrastructure. This is a fully hybridized high-performance computing infrastructure dedicated to research and teaching HPC principles.
Manages and supervises staff and operations in an Information Technology (IT) area. Advises management on issues within a specific IT area to ensure compliance and uniform systems across the division and enterprise. Works closely with other area managers and directors to ensure smooth and transparent processes and systems. Designs information systems and procedures to support division operations. Hires, trains and supervises staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree and five years of related IT experience including project management and lead or supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience with high performance computing clusters and using the AWS cloud
Experience working with parallel processing approaches
Excellent communication skills and collaborate with IT Staff, researchers, and developers. Example where one has worked with a client to design complex computing solution for a research or a complex processing need
RedHat Linux 6 & 7 experience
LDS for authentication
Univa Grid Engine
Experience with ElkStack, Ubuntu, Zabix and Nagios
Experience with systems running applications/frameworks such as Matlab, R, SAS
Experienced with databases, relational and NoSQL such as Hadoop, SQLserver
Setting up Bioinformatics pipelines, working with systems running “omics” analytics tools
Tensorflow and other machine learning tools
Systems experience with VMware
