JOB DESCRIPTION: Working as a member of the senior staff team, the Director for Institutional Research and Decision Support is responsible for the administration, supervision, and coordination of the Law School's planning and research functions, including providing comprehensive support to all Law School units for outcomes assessment, accreditation studies, and data reporting to internal and external agencies. Supports all reporting and data initiatives for the Law School. Works closely with senior leaders to assess business intelligence needs, translating those requirements into deliverables and managing special projects. Works collaboratively with relevant units from Emory University, assures appropriate access to all institutional data platforms and related output, improving reporting platforms and enhancing data delivery. Acts as a subject matter expert to identify, analyze, explain, and solve problems. Analyzes data from various Emory enterprise and related systems and provides reports and recommended response actions to management. Serves as a technical expert in business intelligence and statistical applications (i.e. STATA, SPSS, SAS, R, Tableau). Independently develops automated tools and methodologies in support of operational business needs such as dashboards, reports, and statistical models. Consults with business units to identify strategic plans and build customizations for meeting complex objectives. Oversees the administration of and access to organization-wide data and ensures that the data systems support the School's mission and objectives. Ensures compliance and uniform, transparent data systems across the School and enterprise by working closely with other area managers and directors. Performs complex technical design, development, and testing of data systems to ensure accuracy. Creates and maintains data backups and recovery. Supports the assessment and reporting needs of the University, School, and its departments to federal, state, and other accrediting agencies. Drafts, reviews, and/or implements administrative policies, processes, procedures, and systems related to data management, privacy, and institutional effectiveness. Represents the School on data, decision science, and accreditation related matters to other organizations in various University, national, and international settings. Leads and proactively identifies emerging technologies, develops proof-of-concepts, and promotes the usage of these emerging technologies. May supervise staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in analytics, computer sciences, social or behavioral sciences and five years of relevant institutional research or business intelligence experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. A doctoral degree is preferred.
