JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides clinical and administrative nursing support for research trials, studies, and projects. Recruits and screens potential participants. Performs patient/research subject evaluations, administers medications and research instruments and collects data. May assist with surgical procedures. Provides patient education related to study. Makes referrals to in-house or community professionals. Follows-up with project participants in accordance with established standards and protocols. May coordinate staffing or scheduling assignments. Performs related responsibilities as required. Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.

Serving the largest pediatric and adolescent population affected by HIV/AIDS in the US/North America, Emory University’s Ponce de Leon Center in Midtown Atlanta has adopted a chronic illness model of healthcare to promote patients’ long-term health. The Ponce Family and Youth Clinic (PFYC) was established at Grady Memorial Hospital in 1986 and moved to its current location in 1993 to accommodate a growing population of children, adolescents and young adults affected by HIV/AIDS. Staffed by Emory University physicians, nurses, and social workers, the Clinic is the largest and most comprehensive outpatient HIV treatment facility (medical home) in the US and is continually recognized for excellence in clinical care, educational initiatives, community engagement and implementation of research, through federal- and pharmaceutical-sponsored protocols
Experience performing clinical research coordinator duties is beneficial. Any exposure to HIV clinical research is helpful, but not essential. Possess strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment. Process oriented, with excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Job will involve handling of sensitive information, so ability to maintain confidentiality is a must.
