Emory University Acute Care Surgeon: Assistant or Associate Professor Academic Rank in atlanta, Georgia
The Department of Surgery of Emory University School of Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, is actively seeking an Acute Care Surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor academic rank. This will be a full-time position within the combined Emory/Morehouse Acute Care Surgery Service under the direction of Peter Rhee MD at Grady Memorial Hospital and Mark Shapiro MD, Trauma Medical Director. The Service currently consists of 13 Emory and Morehouse ACS surgeons.
Clinical responsibilities include trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care coverage at Grady Memorial Hospital’s Marcus Trauma Center, an ACS verified Level I Trauma Center responsible for a population of 5,000,000 in northwest Georgia.
Additional responsibilities include supervision and teaching acute care surgery fellows, (currently 6 trauma/surgical critical care fellows in a two year program), Morehouse and Emory surgery residents, advanced practice providers and Medical/PA students. There are extraordinary opportunities for clinical, outcomes and translational research based on patient volumes, acuity, and external research funding within the Department. Candidates must be Board-eligible/certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. The ideal candidate will have completed a 2-year ACS fellowship, have a strong background and interest in research and/or have a MPH, MSc or similar degree.
